The Minimig core on MisterFPGA is a great implementation of the AGA chipset, with lots of RAM, hard disk support, and the things you’d expect. What you might not expect are the extras though:
- Support for a shared folder on the Linux, allowing simple transfer of data
- Retargetable graphics (RTG) support with HD resolutions
- Networking support via SLIP to the Linux side
- Floppy drive support (?)
Given that MisterFPGA can easily be configured to network seamlessly using SMB, it’s very easy to transfer ROMs, ADFS, hard files etc for your configuration without messing around with physical media.
As well as software, there’s many hardware options, too. For me, the thing that makes this feel more like an Amiga is using an Amiga keyboard and an Amiga case.
So, here’s a series of articles to help you get started. We’ll first get a strong setup of a network connected A1200 with a graphics card supporting HD resolutions, and then – if you want to – we’ll set up an A500 running Kickstart 1.3 with a hard drive.
